Set Yourself Up for Success and Weight Loss

by thenrifi
People everywhere are searching for a way to lose weight fast. Unfortunately there is no magic potion that will accomplish this with a simple pill or ten minutes of exercise per day. It can not happen overnight or even over a week. To be successful it should occur slowly and somewhat naturally. You must be prepared to adjust your eating habits and ensure you are getting adequate exercise.

You must keep in mind that you did not gain weight over those short periods therefore you can not expect the body to shed those pounds in that short period. Having said that though, there are some proven ways to help you achieve your weight loss goals relatively quickly and achieve very satisfying results.

Learn more about what these simple yet effective weight loss techniques require and how you can use them to achieve maximum results in the shortest practical period. You must be prepared to set goals. You will never lose weight fast unless you have a specific goal towards it.

Many people tend to jump into a quick exercise routine and a new diet without a weight loss plan or a goal. This is simply a recipe for failure and acceptance of the condition. How can you possibly reach your goal if you don't even know what the goal is? It is essential to success that the very first step towards losing weight is to determine a goal and a vision.

Do some research and some soul searching. Which dieting system and exercise routine will fit your needs? Many different approaches to diet can be successful. Many videos are available to guide you through an exercise routine that will work the appropriate muscles. Simply making use of these videos will provide encouragement and goals. The videos encourage and stimulate you to complete a workout that will be complete.

Always keep in your mind that you only get one body and you must learn to satisfy the needs to keep it healthy. In order to lose weight fast some people tend to jump from post to pillar. Through misguided or incomplete actions may find themselves thrown into an even unhealthier state due because they have not developed a systematic procedure conforming to a routine recommended by an expert in the field. As stated previously, before you start your weight loss program it is extremely important to understand your plan and goals. Be sure your plan is safe and healthy and follows a system recommended by experienced persons.

Don't give it up. Some people do not see any weight loss results within the first couple of months they start to train. There may be a lag initially and in fact it is quite normal to experience short term pauses in weight loss with even the most successful programs.

Always keep in mind that each body is different and it is not necessary that you produce the same weight loss results as someone else may have experienced. This can lead to a depressed attitude and defeat in the mind. You must maintain a positive attitude. This is important in any facet of your life.

A positive attitude may well be the very first thing you need to achieve in order to lose weight. Learn to concentrate on the workout and think positive results. This works for anything you want to achieve. Once you are getting it right you will see positive weight loss results. So what might be the real weight loss secret? My money says getting a good plan developed and gets you into a positive state of mind. Visualize a time in the future where you have lost some of that weight.

This will encourage you to move forward. Set a goal; get your mind to accept the fact that you are going to meet that goal. Go for it and succeed.

Nutrisystem Advanced Weight Loss Program

Recently, my father decided to try this program out. He's about 50 pounds over weight.

The program provides freeze-dried foods, cereal bars, and other items that you can add water to, and what not. For around $10 a day, it provides you with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Additionally, you will have to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, and perhaps a few other items.

Averaging it out, I'd say that your weight loss program, with this method, would cost around $15 a day, if you're a frugal shopper, and up to $20 per day. That can be quite a lot of cash to drop on food.

So, is it worth that expense? Well, as stretched as it made his budget, for the time my father was involved with Nutrisystem, it did work for him. Some of the foods were an "acquired taste". Some were fairly bland, or too salty, or way too dry. But, after a couple weeks, my father got used to eating them and even came to like the foods that he previously felt were kind of gross.

You get to choose your own meals from within their menu, if you wish. So, after the first month, my father took full advantage of that, making sure he didn't spend money on those menu items that he simply hated.

While he was on the program, he lost around 10 pounds a month. He was never hungry, and always had enough food to curb his cravings (their chocolate isn't funtastic, I tried it, but it's not the worst, and you get used to it). I tried a number of the items on his menu, particularly after he quit the program and still had entirely too much Nutrisystem brand food.

Personally, I enjoyed the cereals and some of the nutrition bars (breakfast/dessert bars). The chocolate raspberry bar was to die for! Seriously, I was thoroughly surprised and impressed by the fact that I didn't have to get used to the taste. Sometimes, I still crave those things, they were so good! I wasn't big on most of the meals though. I hear they are seeking to improve the taste greatly, however, without compromising on the nutrition or the effectiveness of the program. It'll be interesting to see what they do with it.

All in all, I'd say that the program is worth it. Just, don't get overly adventurous when you're ordering your food. ;)

Eat More, Lose More.

Sounds like a ridiculous concept, doesn't it? But, honestly, it works. What you'll be doing is making your metabolism more efficient, and burning more calories, even though you will likely be eating more, or the same amount of food that you are prior to dieting.

When I was pregnant, both times, I had gestational diabetes. As much of a pain in the butt as that was, I had to take nutrition classes, and actually did end up losing weight (though that wasn't the goal) by simply following their instructions for keeping my blood sugar steady.

Instead of eating three large meals a day, eat five-six smaller meals per day. Make sure that your complex carbs and your proteins are pretty even for each meal. Eat your protein first, which will help to regulate your blood sugar properly.

Portions are key. Make sure that you stick to one serving of each kind of food. Below is a sample menu, just as an example.

7 a.m Breakfast: 1 slice of toast
1 oz. of cheese
1 8 oz. glass of low fat milk
1 small apple

10 a.m. Snack: 1 slice of bread
1 serving of peanut butter
1/2 cup of carrots

1 p.m. Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna salad
5 saltine crackers
1/2 cup peas

4 p.m. Snack: 5 saltine crackers
1 oz. cheese

7 p.m. dinner: 1 serving baked, seasoned chicken breast
1 serving mashed potatoes
1 serving green beans
1 sugar free soda or drink

10 p.m. Snack: 1 yogurt
1 slice bread
1 serving peanut butter

Bed time

That was just an example, but that's about how I ate when I was pregnant, the baby was growing very well, and I was still losing weight because my metabolism was sped up so much by eating in this fashion.

In short, is it possible to eat even more food, and still lose weight? Absolutely!

*As with any diet or exercise program, consult your physician before implementing.

Starting and Continuing an Exercise Regimen

If working out isn't a passion or obsession of yours, starting a program can be a difficult task, severely lacking in motivation. Worse yet, sticking to it presents an even bigger obstacle. Here are a few tips:

1) Organize your schedule. Get a calendar, and make sure to mark down the days and times you'll need to be exercises. Get yourself in the habit of checking that calendar on a daily basis. You don't need to work out every day, and you shouldn't. Pick at least two "days of rest" a week, but make sure they aren't back to back.

2) Pick a fun exercise, or one that you can make more enjoyable. Walking is a great exercise to start with, and there are lots of things you can do to make the experience pleasant. Go for a half hour walk every day, or every other day, in an area that is aesthetically pleasing to you (the park, your own neighborhood, the mountains near your house, etc.). If you like to move to the music, create an exercise program from just listening to music in your bedroom for a half an hour, and making sure that you're moving the whole time. These are both especially great exercises, because they work your entire body, simultaneously.

3) Listen to music while you're exercising. This will distract your brain from the potential boredom, and make the overall experience more enjoyable. Make it something upbeat, that you like. Slower music could slow you down or relax you a bit too much.

4) Get a friend involved. Friends or family can be great motivational factors. See if you can get someone that you won't be embarrassed in front of, to exercise with you. Motivate each other to stick with it. If you can't get someone to do it with you, then get someone who's willing to bug you to do it on a regular basis.

5) Stay focused on your goals. Focus on the health benefits you'll be getting. Focus on the fact that you'll have more energy to do the things you want to do. Focus on reaching your goals for looking and feeling your best. Focus on the self esteem that generally follows reaching those goals. Give yourself a pep talk daily.

2 FREE Ways You Can Help Change the World For the Better.

Not all of us have the money to give as much as we want, need, or feel we should to charity. But, most of us want to help change the world for the better, even if it's just in a small way. Well, these sites will help you accomplish that, without having to spend any money at all, and with only devoting a small amount of your online time.

The Hunger Site (click here) donates food for the hungry as their primary function. Every day, you can click on a button at the top of the page, and donate 1.1 cups of food to the hungry by doing so. They have other ways you can help too, most of which are free, like sending an e-card.

One of the really great things about the hunger site is that you can give to other causes in the same way. Are you passionate about animals? Want to give more to breast cancer prevention? They have tabs for that and much more.

The available causes they have, that you can give to by clicking, sending e-cards, etc. are; (ending) Hunger, Breast Cancer, Child Health, Literacy, Rainforest (preservation), and Animal Rescue.

Another great site, that will allow you to give to a worth cause, is FreeRice.com. This site serves two functions actually. When you go onto the site, there will be a vocabulary word, with four possible definitions below it. You click on the definition that you believe best suits the word. For every word/definition combo you get correct, the site donates 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Programme, to help end world hunger. So, you'll be building your vocabulary, having fun, and helping to end world hunger all at the same time, and all for free!
